Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We have answers.

Do you get a free hammock with attendance?

No, but there will be plenty of hammocks rigged for participants to enjoy during the training. There will be one Cloud Hammock rigged for every two participants in each training, thus limiting class size and ensuring that everyone receives ample time giving and receiving the work.

What kind of hammock is required for Floating Hammock Massage?

FHM requires a hammock that allows the client to rest perpendicularly. The Cloud Hammock was invented for this purpose and is the most versatile when it comes to rigging. FHM can also be done in extra large aerial yoga hammocks and extra large woven Mayan hammocks, although performance is reduced. Cloud Hammocks will be offered at a reduced price at trainings.

Will rigging be covered in class?

Yes! We will go over rigging requirements, details and options in FHM Level 1. The minimum footprint for a Cloud Hammock with hang points built into the wall is 8’x10’. There are different free-standing rigs capable of holding the Cloud Hammock, and the one with the smallest footprint requires a width that is 9 feet. There is no existing free-standing rig that supports a large aerial yoga hammock (minimum wall distance/width for a large aerial yoga hammock is 11 feet for built-in hang points).

I’m not very flexible, will I be able to do this modality?

Yes! FHM can be modified to meet the needs of the practitioner. There is only one body position that requires lying on the ground in FHM Level 1, and it’s optional.

What if I get motion sickness easily?

During FHM, the motion of the hammock can be controlled and modified to stay within the receiver’s “therapeutic zone.” In extreme situations please consult before attending.

Is this a gimmick?

Absolutely not! FHM has been in development for over 7 years. Clients often relax more deeply in the hammock than on the table, and the profound experience of clients is what has fueled the growth of this new modality.
